The Science of Prophecy

Astrology has valuable information for folks trying to grow a business or grow a career. Not only can astrology help determine a good career area for you, but it can also cite promotions, raises, and times for a fledging business to grow.

In general, careers and businesses ebb and flow with the course of planets Mars, the action planet. Mars has a cycle of two to two and a half years (the length of the cycle varies with the elliptical orbit), and so look back and notice if your career cycle has experienced major changes along those lines. Mine has always followed the Mars orbit, with a series of ups and downs that relate to my specific chart.

Every business has its own chart too, which can date either from thedate of incorporation (used for cities and states as well) or from the opening date and time of the business. These charts are important indicators of whether there is growth and flexibility OR rigidity in a business. One can easily see, in addition, whether personnel will be a hindrance or a boon. In the case of hiring, it's a good thing to have an important candidate be charted.  Astrologers can easily see whether you have a hard worker, a creative gem, or someone good at blowing smoke.

In addition, in a personal chart, we can often see if an employer is going through restructuring and where the employee will lose or gain in this situation: will the client have a job when all is said and done? If we look at the chart of the business, that helps further, but astrology gives plenty of information on such events just by looking at the money areas of the client’s birth chart. It’s very important in those cases to look at the “partner’s money” area of one’s chart, because your employer is literally your partner in money. This location indicates where your money comes from and how stable or unstable that situation is.

In the birth chart of a business, of course, that would indicate the viability of investors and other business partners. Woe to a business that starts off with Gemini in the Eighth House! You had better have a pretty firm hold on such a slippery situation, OR better have your fingers in so many pies that it doesn’t matter if a few fall and go splat!

Besides Mars, other planets that are important to watch in business are Jupiter, the planet of growth and opportunities—and endings!—as well as heavy-handed Saturn, who actually is a help to keep things organized and on track. Jupiter brings growth and change and so is great if well paced in a chart or transiting normally. But if old Jupe makes a connection with a big old boy like Pluto, probably the business is going to go down, go bankrupt, and have to reorganize. Also important are times when Jupiter goes retrograde—that is, goes backwards. When Jupiter does a backtrack episode at least once a year, then it just seems like the money is there but you can’t get your hands on it.

Conversely, Saturn will keep monies tight on its normal course, but when this disciplinarian goes backwards, the pressure lightens and things can go a little easier. You may not be able to hold the reins so tight, but at least things can grow without as much hindrance.

The Houston Business Scene...

Houston has a lot of behind the scenes clean-up, and maybe the city needs it after the stuff that has showed up on city computers in recent months.  While a clean-up operation is trying to repress what’s there, by mid-May, there will be new embarrassment for the city to endure.  We can only hide so much.  Other officials will actually share it with the world in order to use it to their advantage.  Then the rules in the office will get tougher than ever for city employees.  Big Brother will be all around you.

Watch for a new star or beloved popping out in mid-March and loads of new projects and growth for the entertainment industry in H-Town.  Lots of investment dollars will come from this expansion, and it’s a good thing that local monies will be improving the Houston economy, because distant connections and international companies appear to be lagging.

Houston will be getting fatter too, because the restaurant industry will increase over the spring months, and as a result waistlines will increase.  The mayor may bring back his “help Houston lose weight” campaign.  But, we like the dollars that our city, known for its good food, gains, so you got to expect we are going to try out these new digs!

In addition, Houston will literally get bigger, so nearby towns beware, because there may be some annexation in order.  At the very least, Houston will continue its facelift in order to improve its reputation.  I want to know, when are they going to improve air quality?

Houston will be making lots of new partnerships, and is there room for another big league city or music arena?  We will try!  Houston is going to make some high profile marriages in August and September.

Also, expect a highly visible lawsuit in August and September.

Flood control will be on everyone’s mind in October, and there is volatile weather much later in the season than expected.  Houston has at least been working on evacuation plans and emergency services, so at least they have planned.  But mid-October, it’s pretty difficult to control Mother Nature.

At the end of the year, a beloved with a good rep leaves town.  There will be talks and negotiations with other cities and nations overseas.

Looks like Houston will have a good year over all.
